If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about Coldtype, I’ve got news to share: starting this February, I’m teaching a 10-week Type@Cooper course on animating typography with Coldtype. You can read more about the class here, or — if you have questions — you can reply to this email and I’d be happy to chat. Registration has just opened!
The class is called “Type Sound Code,” which I think you could interpret a few different ways. Primarily the class will be about Type + Sound + Code (we’ll be using Python code to combine audio and music with variable fonts), though I also like the idea of the class being about “typing sound code,” a class about using a keyboard to type out high-quality code. Well, not “high quality” really. Maybe just… weird? What I mean is: Coldtype code is a lot different from other creative coding idioms, and this class will unpack exactly why Coldtype is so different. (It’s got a lot to do with LISP and functional programming.)
Anyway, I hope you’ll consider taking the class — I know I’m excited to teach it!
